Bridge Standout to Protest First Light’s Northfield Mountain Pumped Storage Station

Connecticut River Defenders does not support the proposal made by MA state legislators and others to re-license Northfield Mountain Pumped Storage Station (NMPS) for 30 years rather than the original 50. We need it shut down immediately. NMPS is the deadliest machine on the Connecticut River, killing countless numbers of fish, larvae, and eggs. The unnatural, rapid fluctuations in water level created by its forceful pull and surge of the river causes erosion to its banks, and harms arable land, and traditional sacred Indigenous sites. Help us stop this extremely damaging false solution to climate change.
